Global services: overseas training and distance learning writing courses
Emphasis is based in the UK, but our trainers love to travel. We run business writing courses all over the world, and can discuss a programme to suit you, whether your first language is English or not. All courses are run in English, although our talented trainers are happy ordering coffee (and pastries) in a variety of languages.
Distance learning writing courses
If you prefer, we can continue to order our coffee in English and still help you improve your organisation’s written communications. Business writing distance learning courses are available and can be tailored to your organisation’s style and needs. A typical distance learning writing course consists of three stages:
1. Pre-course writing analysis
We analyse each delegate’s writing before the training. This allows us to identify individuals’ strengths and weaknesses, making the training personal and relevant. We use the analysis during the one-to-one tutorial (after the training modules).
2. Distance-learning training modules
We design bespoke business writing distance learning modules covering key topics and techniques. Together, these total five to six hours’ working time. We email the modules to each delegate and suggest a completion schedule. We also provide a Q&A forum for delegates to post their queries online.
3. One-to-one tutorials
The completed modules form the focus of a one-hour, one-to-one interactive tutorial with an expert tutor. The tutor also uses the delegate’s marked writing sample to illustrate points and make the learning relevant to the individual.
We use Adobe Connect Pro™ – an application that allows both participants to view the same Microsoft Word™ document simultaneously. The technology is simple: all you need is a phone, a computer, Flash Player 9 and an Internet connection.
We also offer optional post-course analysis and an action summary for each delegate. And we encourage delegates to use our continuous learning resources:
- free telephone and email support for a year after the course
- Write Here, our writing advice forum
- Write Now, our writing skills blog
- Write Away, our monthly tips e-bulletin
- Write On, our monthly business writing podcast
- a style guide – either your own (which we can develop) or ours, The Write Stuff.
