Richard Leggatt

Richard is a proposal writer and fundraising expert with over 20 years’ experience in the charity sector. He’s worked with organisations like the Centre for Homelessness Impact, National Numeracy, Institute of Development Studies and Marine Stewardship Council.

His career has seen him engage with individual donors, government funding agencies and international foundations. This experience honed his ability to communicate specific messages to a wide range of audiences with maximum impact – a skill which has helped him lead teams to win multiple seven-figure bids.

Richard has ‘a genuine love for language in all contexts’ and spent ten years as an actor before his fundraising career, treading the boards in Hamlet and roaming Albert Square during a brief stint in Eastenders. As a trainer for Emphasis, he uses his passion for language, industry expertise and theatrical background to engage audiences on the page and in the training room.
